You Don’t Need a Website Designer Yet. You Need a Plan.

You finally decide it’s time to work on your website.

You open Squarespace. You create a page. You pick a layout.

And then...

What am I actually supposed to put here?

This is where a LOT of DIY websites get stuck.

It’s easy to assume designing the website will be the hard part. Choosing colors. Finding photos. Making everything look polished.

But before any of that can happen, someone has to figure out what the website actually needs to say.

What pages should you have? What belongs on your homepage versus your About page? How should you introduce your services? What does someone need to know before they’re ready to contact you?

That behind-the-scenes thinking is what makes the design work.

And if you’re not ready to hire someone for a full custom website, it’s also the part you’re usually left figuring out by yourself.

Meet the Website Blueprint

The Website Blueprint is a custom, page-by-page content plan for your website.

Think of it as the plan that comes before the build.

Instead of handing you a generic template and leaving you to figure out how your business fits inside it, I map out a website specifically around your business, your offers, and what your potential clients need to understand.

You’ll know:

  • What pages your website needs

  • What sections belong on each page

  • What order those sections should appear in

  • What content and messaging belong in each section

  • How the pages should work together to guide someone through your business

There are no colors, fonts, photos, or visual design included.

That’s intentional.

We’re figuring out what the house needs before picking out the paint.

Who Is a Website Blueprint For?

There are usually two types of business owners who need this.

The first knows they need a website and feels perfectly capable of building one themselves.

The problem?

They open that blank page and freeze.

One past client described it perfectly:

“I just can't look at a blank page and know what to do. I need something to tell me what to put in so I can fill in the blanks.”

If that sounds familiar, you probably don’t need someone to take the entire project out of your hands. You need someone to do the strategic thinking first so you have something concrete to work from.

The second type already has a website.

Your business has grown. Your services have changed. Maybe you’ve pivoted, added offers, changed your ideal client, or simply gotten MUCH better at what you do.

Your website, however, is still telling the story of your business from three years ago.

You know something isn’t quite working, but you can’t put your finger on exactly what needs to change.

A Website Blueprint can give you that direction too.

So...Is This Just a Website Template?

Nope.

A template gives lots of businesses the same basic structure.

A Website Blueprint is created specifically for yours.

Your business might need a Services page that leads into three individual offer pages. Someone else might need a completely different path.

The goal isn’t to squeeze your business into a predetermined website.

It’s to determine what YOUR website needs first.

Then you build around that.

What Do You Actually Walk Away With?

You’ll receive a complete page-by-page content structure for your website.

But it isn’t just a checklist of sections.

There’s strategy behind how everything fits together.

The Blueprint considers what someone needs to understand first, what questions need to be answered along the way, how your offers should be introduced, and where you ultimately want your visitor to go next.

When it’s finished, you have a document you can actually build from.

No more opening a blank page and hoping inspiration strikes.

How the Website Blueprint Works

It starts with a short intro call with me.

This isn’t a big formal website audit or a high-pressure sales call. It’s a chance for me to learn about your business, hear what’s happening with your current website situation, and make sure the Blueprint is actually the right starting point.

From there, I build your custom Website Blueprint.

Once it’s ready, you’ll receive the full document along with a plain-English walkthrough so you understand exactly how to use it.

Then comes the fun part.

You build.

Do I Have to Hire a Designer Afterward?

No.

If you’re excited to DIY your Squarespace website, take your Blueprint and run with it.

You have the roadmap. Now you can build the house.

You can also hand the Blueprint to a designer later because the foundational thinking is already done.

And sometimes, business owners get their Blueprint, see everything that needs to happen, and decide:

You know what? I would actually love for someone else to build this.

That works too.

The Blueprint gives you the clarity to make that decision without committing to a full custom website before you’re ready.

The Design Is Only as Good as the Thinking Underneath It

The visual side of a website gets most of the attention because it’s the part everyone can see.

But good design needs something to work with.

Your website needs a clear story. Your pages need a purpose. Your potential clients need to know where they are, what you do, why it matters to them, and what they should do next.

That’s the less-glamorous work happening backstage.

And it needs to happen whether you hire a designer or DIY the whole thing yourself.

The Website Blueprint is a starting point, not a guessing game.

If you’re ready to stop staring at a blank page, or wondering what’s wrong with the website you already have, book a quick intro call with me.

We’ll talk about where your website is now and figure out if a Website Blueprint is the right next step.
